An ideal home for perky house wrens. Hanging oval ball is about 7 1/4" high x 6" across. It comes in two halves, clamped together with a woven stainless steel wire that also forms a 10" hanger. Wrens like privacy, so hang these among tree branches or a sturdy bush.

Halves come apart easily for an annual cleaning. Painted with eco-friendly green and cream camouflage and made with Schwegler's long lasting material that breathes like wood, but lasts 20 years or more.

1" hole, weighs 3 1/2" lbs.

How do you get it apart? Love this style, as well as the brown ones! I have 3 styles, from kinsman! Great Schwegler houses! Thank you kinsman!Friends tell me, they never clean out their wren houses? So, what's the truth? Clean them out, or not? Who knows?! Thank you Kinsman!

    Wren house

Put the little house out, and lo and behold, our little chickadees are busy building their nest in there. Who knew?! So we'll see if later on, perhaps , the wrens will come.

    Birds moved right in

Posted by Thomas Doak on Mar 11th 2025

I bought one of there last season and birds moved right in... I'm still not sure what they were, I hung the next in a tall bush where branches made the entrance a little hard to see. What I can tell you is that the end of the season when I opened to clean, the nest was made entirely of small twigs. Very intriguing, but my brother and sister-in-law, who are an almost ornithologist and truly ornithologist didn't have any suggestions. Wish I had taken a photo..But anyhow, the one last year was really great and I bought two more for this year, so have three hanging out now. The two new ones should be a little easier to observe, if birds accept them.

    Favorite wren house

Posted by Character on Mar 10th 2024

These are great wren houses. Not as heavy as some of the others from this brand. Easy to clean out, and blend in nicely with the environment. The wrens in my yard started using them right away.

Schwegler makes the best birdhouses ever. I have one that is 30 years old and still perfect. The birds love them.

Wow it's just great. I had a family of 3 baby chickadees outside my kitchen window. Looking forward to this summer again. Purchased one for my sister in Connecticut.

    Seven chickadees!

Posted by Julie Maher on Feb 22nd 2021

I've had one of these nesting balls in a tree for a few years and have had wren or chickadee residents each year. Last year the chickadees got there first...and hatched SEVEN babies! Our three-year-old grandson absolutely loved looking inside at all the little breaks after Nanny carefully removed the top half of the ball! After they fledged, I cleaned it out, and the house wrens took over. Easy to clean, very sturdy...am ordering another one! We have several Schwegler birdhouses from Kinsman, and they all host residents every year. Great product!
