I ordered the globe planter for my sisters who were visiting from Illinois, and I. We had a "garden craft day" and filled them with succulents. We lined the ball with the Oregon Moss, and then used cactus planting soil. They are gorgeous and know that they will only get better as the season progresses. The globes are sturdy and well made. They are only 14 inches in diameter, which was a perfect size for using succulents. We used about 48 plants for each one, keeping in mind that we just planted small pieces of the plants in the openings to allow room for them to grow and expand.
