The service was wonderful because when the product arrived, it was broken and Kinsman sent another immediately. However, the product itself was disappointing, but maybe my expectations were too high. I had hoped this medium would allow rooting without constant attention, but the gel kept drying out and ultimately, none of the plants rooted. I'll go back to propagating the old way.

I had written a fairly negative review when my Gel 2 Root-propagator Basic Sys arrived because the pot was damaged and the gel was leaking. Within a week, a new, undamaged one arrived without my specifically asking and needless to say I am delighted with the customer responsiveness. I look forward to starting my cuttings. *** Mary, since your negative review was really more of a Customer Service issue, we felt it best to rectify the situation rather than posting the review. The two cuttings I tried to root died in the gel even though I closely followed the directions.

I have just taken cuttings from a plant that I want to spread around and this product was easy to use. The only thing that would make it better is if the base was clear so you could watch the root development without having to take the cells out of the base.

I ordered the GEL 2 Root Basic System on 2/21/11. By 3/13, I was potting my rooted impatiens! Begonia cuttnigs are taking a little longer. My only complaint is that the little plastic greenhouse is very thin and brittle. Mine has cracked up extensively, and I have had to tape it up to continue to use it.
