Our original Nuttery Peanut Feeder has been in constant use for over 15 years in our Pennsylvania garden - winter and summer. Generations of Carolina wrens, tufted titmice, chickadees, nuthatches and downy woodpeckers have feasted inside its protecting bars. Red bellied woodpeckers poke their long beaks from outside to dine. Yet squirrels, grackles and blue jays have never managed to crash the ongoing party.

This feeder is well made and keeps the big birds away but it does NOT keep the squirels away. Squirels simply remove the metal top and stick their heads into the feeder and help themselves. Even when I used clamps to hold the top to the wire cage, the squirels removed the clamps, removed the top, and helped themselves. It would help if the top firmly attached to the feeding tube or screwed onto the tube. it just sits atop the feeding tube.

I have the original size, this larger one, the suet and nut feeders. All have kept the squirrels and larger birds out as advertised and have attracted many small songbirds.
